Plastering Trial Day Great Success

Last week, Shropshire Training Academy hosted a trial day for our apprentice applicants.
V&D Interiors, alongside SBC Training, brought in 11 of our applicants to partake in a plastering trial day to give them an opportunity to get hands on with the trade. With the course starting in September, teacher Paul gave taught the group how to prep and plaster, as well as safety procedures in carrying 25kg plasterboard and bags of plaster.
Each of the applicants had a go at carrying the boards and bags, as well as plastering the walls to get a feel for the trade.
Paul did a great job at getting everyone excited to pursue a career in plastering, using anecdotes, humour and his 40 years of knowledge and experience to make the whole experience feel unique and interesting. With his experience he will be teaching 6 modules over the 24 months such as skimming, 2 coat plastering and rendering.
Feedback from SBC Training said that 10 of the 11 applicants were excited to move ahead with their applications and are eager to learn the next step, with positive feedback from all the attendees when questioned throughout the plastering trial day.
Overall, SBC Training and V&D Interiors both described the trial day as a resounding success, with the idea of potentially running a second plastering trial day for more applicants that weren’t able to come or potential new applicants, Shropshire Training Academy wants to give everyone a chance at trying their hand plastering.
Massive well done to everyone involved in planning and running the event, and a thank you to everyone who took the time out of their Easter break to come to the trial day.
Below are a selection of images of Paul and some of the applicants from the plastering trial day getting hands on with everything there was to offer.
